Methodist Physicians Clinic welcomes Dr. Eric Forney to its plastic and reconstructive surgery team
Published: Nov. 1, 2026Growing up in Lincoln, Eric Forney, MD, spent countless hours in his father’s veterinary clinic – often peering through a window into the operating room, fascinated by what he observed. With a general surgeon and a family practice physician in the family as well, medicine felt familiar and inspiring to him.
Dr. Forney initially planned to become a general surgeon like his uncle, but a single diagnosis changed everything.
“My mom is a breast cancer survivor,” he said. “Seeing her journey through reconstruction and then getting the opportunity to rotate with a plastic surgery team really piqued my interest.”
Dr. Forney, a plastic surgeon at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Methodist Women’s Hospital Medical Office Building, has a particular interest in reconstructive surgery. He’s especially passionate about helping patients restore form and function after cancer, trauma or congenital conditions. His microsurgical training allows him to offer tissue-based breast reconstruction, using a patient’s own skin and fat as an option if they have undergone radiation or prefer to avoid implants.
Trust is the foundation of his care philosophy. He strives to be open, honest and collaborative – helping patients understand their goals, what’s possible and how surgery can support the life they want to live.
“The best thing a physician can do is treat the patient like their family,” he said.
Outside of work, Dr. Forney and his wife stay busy with their three children and golden retriever. They love being outdoors – camping, fishing and exploring parks together.
