Dr. Andrew Coughlin to focus on mentorship as Metro Omaha Medical Society president
Published: Dec. 2, 2025
For inspiration on where to focus his attention during his coming year as president of the Metro Omaha Medical Society (MOMS), Andrew Coughlin, MD, looked no further than the people who influenced his medical career.
He also pondered the times – especially when he was applying to medical school and working to secure a residency – when having a mentor would have been invaluable.
“There have always been one or two groups of people who help you get to the next level in your career,” said Dr. Coughlin, a head and neck surgeon at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center whose term as MOMS president begins in January. “They guide and support you to achieve those goals you set for yourself.”
Dr. Coughlin’s focus for 2026: encouraging MOMS members to consider serving as a mentor by getting involved and further serving the medical community.
“On the other hand, maybe it is you who is in need of mentorship. Let the MOMS community be that source of support. Just ask,” he said.
