Dr. Ramig Joins Family Medicine Staff at Hawthorne Court

OMAHA — Dr. James Ramig is anything but dull when explaining why he loves his job.

Why did the science geek choose to study medicine?

“Going to medical school was like being told that you can eat your favorite food every day for the next four years. You get to do science all the time,” he said.

Why join Methodist Physicians Clinic family medicine?

“Health care is kind of like … a cheeseburger,” he said. “You can get a cheeseburger in a lot of places. But there’s different elements of Methodist that make it the best cheeseburger.”

Dr. Ramig earned his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at Clarkson Family Medicine. Previously, he was a family medicine physician at Midwest Regional Health Services, a hospitalist for Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital and a physician for Methodist Physicians Clinic Urgent Care.

His passion for medicine extends to his relationships with patients – especially parents and their children – where he believes honest discussion about successes and struggles can lead to better outcomes.

“You don’t have to be perfect. Doctors aren’t perfect. Parents aren’t perfect,” he said. “So I think honesty is really important. And then engaging children at an adult level is really important because then it enables children or young adults to take part in their care, to be responsible with it.”

Dr. Ramig is now seeing patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic Hawthorne Court (17675 Welch Plaza). Appointments can be made by calling 402-354-7610.
