Family Ties: Byron and Alina Borkowski enjoy working with diverse teams to improve patient and student experiences

In this feature, you'll learn more about Byron and Alina Borkowski, who found their place at Methodist because of the dedicated teams they work with daily.
How long have you been married? Tell us more about your lives outside of work.
We were married 10 years ago on the beach in Deerfield Beach, Florida. We’ve since been enjoying living in Elkhorn with our cat, Blu. Outside of work, we enjoy hiking, snowmobiling and riding UTVs. We also love to travel and keep up with family and friends.
How did you meet?
We met through mutual friends while we were both students at Creighton University and traveled to Greece together on one of Creighton’s study abroad trips.
Tell us about your current roles at Methodist.
Byron currently works as the surgical resource coordinator at Methodist Hospital. He coordinates the resources needed for specialty surgeries and works with surgeons, nurses, vendors and representatives to ensure that those surgeries go smoothly for patients. Alina is the director of records and registration at Nebraska Methodist College (NMC). She focuses on policies and academic course scheduling, and she assists with student questions.
How did each of you find your place at Methodist?
We found our place in our current roles at Methodist through the dedicated people we work with and the shared values our teams have. The teamwork across the departments at NMC for events on campus such as the Winter Mixer is phenomenal. The Friday Lunch Club at NMC allows for relationship building among coworkers within different departments as well as trying new foods together.
What is it about Methodist that keeps you coming back?
What keeps us coming back to Methodist is our daily interaction with diverse interdisciplinary teams that work to improve patient and student experiences. We look forward to the value we can bring to Methodist’s future patients and students – to us, that’s The Meaning of Care.
