Methodist Fremont Health offers discounted blood screenings
Published: Jan. 23, 2024Beginning in February, Methodist Fremont Health will offer discounted blood screenings, which are open to the public.
The following screenings – which are performed by Methodist Fremont Health’s phlebotomy team on the third floor of the hospital – will be offered 7-9 a.m., on Feb. 6, May 7, May 9, Aug. 6 and Nov. 5:
- Wellness blood profiles, which provide a lipid panel, check kidney and liver function, and screen for diabetes, anemia, infection and more ($40)
- Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) test, which checks thyroid function ($20)
- Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, which screens for prostate cancer ($20)
- Hemoglobin (HbA1c or A1c) test, which measures average level of blood sugar over the past two to three months ($20)
- Hepatitis C antibody test, which can detect antibodies against the Hepatitis C virus (free)
All positive Hepatitis C results must be reported to the State of Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
A 10- to 12-hour fast is recommended for ideal screening results. If you’re taking medications, take them as scheduled unless told otherwise by your provider. You may drink water or black coffee while fasting. Screenings are not intended as a substitute for regular medical exams.
All tests are offered at a reduced fee and cannot be billed through health insurance. Cash or personal checks will be accepted on the day of testing. Appointments are required.
