Methodist Health System Mourns After Passing of Dr. Matthew Latacha

Published: Sept. 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that we share that Matthew Latacha, MD, passed away Sunday after being struck by a car while riding his bike.

Dr. Latacha has been a member of Methodist Physicians Clinic since 2009. He served on many Methodist hospital committees and was the medical director of the cardiac electrophysiology laboratory. He truly led Methodist by launching innovative programs that made a difference in people’s lives. An example is the WATCHMAN procedure that helped patients with atrial fibrillation decrease their stroke risk. The program has been very successful, and Methodist celebrated its 1,000th WATCHMAN procedure in July.

His leadership, expertise and impact to patients will be greatly missed.

Dr. Matthew Latacha

Dr. Latacha was well respected, admired and loved by patients, colleagues and staff. Even more so, he respected, admired and loved back all those he encountered. That's how wonderful of a person he was. He was also a very devoted husband and father of three children. Please keep all of them in your thoughts and prayers. It is a very sad time for the Methodist family.
