Nebraska Methodist College Partners With Omaha Housing Authority, County to Vaccinate 'Invisible' Populations

Many people who have doubts about the COVID-19 vaccine are often minorities, immigrants, refugees or earn low incomes.

That’s why staff and students at Nebraska Methodist College are reaching out to these populations with the help of the Omaha Housing Authority and the Douglas County Health Department.

Nurses often have to work through stigmas and misinformation. But nurses are often who these "invisible" populations trust the most, said Kiley Petersmith, director of community engagement for Nebraska Methodist College.

“Some of those people who are invisible have a mortality rate twice as much as the general population,” Petersmith said.
