No. 1 Reason Not to Skip Your Annual Exam

Let’s face it, no woman wants to go to see her OB/GYN. But while an annual pap smear is no longer necessary, a pelvic exam is a vital part of preserving your ongoing health. It’s the best way to spot deadly cervical cancers.

“Screening is so important,” said Dr. Niyati Nadkarni, a gynecologic oncologist with Midwest GYN Oncology at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center. “The key to surviving cervical cancers is early detection and diagnosis. While pap smears are great for detection, the best way to truly find this cancer is by looking and feeling for abnormalities.”
