PRC Honors Methodist Health System with Prestigious President's Award, Women's Hospital NICU Also Recognized

OMAHA —  Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a nationally-recognized healthcare custom market research company, awarded Methodist Health System and its leadership, with the 2015 President’s Award in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the healthcare industry.

Methodist Health System was honored with the 2015 President’s Award at the annual PRC Excellence in Healthcare Conference held May 31-June 2.

The President’s Award is the highest award, honoring an organization that pushes the healthcare industry to innovate ways to provide better experiences for employees, physicians and patients.

Also among the big winners at the annual conference was the Methodist Women’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), earning the PRC Platinum Achievement Award for inpatient pediatrics.

Achievement awards are based on submissions from health care providers indicating initiatives taken to improve patient satisfaction. With a plan of action in place, the NICU team moved their scores in patient satisfaction from 60 percent excellent in the first quarter of 2014 to 85.2 percent excellent by the fourth quarter.

“Our perception of the job we were doing with our NICU families wasn’t being reflected in our PRC scores,” said Hayley Jambor, attending RN, NICU who submitted the brief on behalf of Women’s Hospital. “We felt we were doing a good job, but our scores were telling us differently. We put many new processes in place to move the needle in the right direction. Among those changes were assuring that parents were more involved in the plan of care of their children, we did a better job of communicating to our families and enhanced our consistency of care.”

In addition to these top awards, Methodist Health System also garnered 20 PRC Excellence in Healthcare Awards, including four Top Performer Awards.

PRC Top Performer Awards are given annually to each health care facility, provider, outpatient service line or inpatient units that score at or above the 100th percentile for overall quality of care for the prior calendar year.

The 5-Star Award is given annually to health care facilities, providers, outpatient service lines and inpatient units that score in the top 10 percent, or above the 90th percentile, based on patient ratings. The 4-Star Award goes to health care facilities scoring in the top 25 percent, specifically between the 75th and 89th percentiles.
