Patients have fond memories of Dr. Karen Lauer-Silva, an OBGYN doctor known for her compassion, deep faith in God and commitment to family, patients, colleagues and staff. Dr. Lauer-Silva joined the medical staff at Methodist Fremont Health in 2005 and practiced in the community for 17 years.
She died July 1 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Her funeral Mass took place July 8 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont.
“I don’t know anybody that Karen met that wasn’t a friend of hers,” said Larry Mruz, a deacon at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Omaha. “She became friends with everyone.”
