Roxanne Wayne, MS, LIMHP
Clinical Supervisor
Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program

Tell us a little about yourself.

I have 14 years of experience with Methodist Health System. When I joined Methodist in 2007, I started working with students, families and community members at school and community locations as part of the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program. Our program serves people in local communities as well as families and students who attend Omaha Public Schools.

Having worked as a licensed independent mental health practitioner for more than 22 years, I’m appreciative of my current position as a clinical supervisor. I assist in supervising other provisionally and fully licensed mental health professionals who provide excellent patient care at Omaha-area schools and church locations. I also took advantage of the opportunity to go back to school during my time with Methodist and earned my Master of Business Administration at Nebraska Methodist College in 2023.

My husband and I have been married for 24 years, and we have three children. Our children keep us very busy with their sports and activities. Our eldest daughter plays college basketball, and one of our sons recently signed his letter of intent to play college football. We are grateful for the opportunity to travel to watch their sports and enjoy that family time.

What attracted you to Methodist?

I was exploring full-time work again after taking a break from being a direct care provider in other organizations and a stay-at-home mom. At the time, I wanted an opportunity that served students in a school-based setting, and the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program had a position open that fit. Working in the community and schools was something I really appreciated, and the program's immediate impact on underserved communities offered a wide-ranging opportunity for those who might not otherwise have the resources for care.

Why have you stayed?

Highlights from my time with Methodist have been extremely beneficial to me personally and professionally. I have valued the excellent work-life balance that Methodist has given me, which has helped me advance professionally and allowed me to enjoy family. What excites me even more is that I’ve been able to contribute to a long-standing and distinctive counseling program that supports mental health services for our young people and communities in the Omaha area.

Do you have any favorite memories from your time at Methodist?

My greatest memories have all involved the privilege of working with so many clinicians and being a part of such a vast team of caring and dedicated professionals over the years.

Have you had a mentor or colleague at Methodist who made a difference for you?

Throughout my time with Methodist, there are too many to name. But overall, I consider my colleagues the difference makers. Every day there’s an opportunity to collaborate, share complex clinical issues and explore ideas whenever it’s needed.

What should people know about Methodist, its mission and/or its culture?

Every company has its own unique culture. In my experience, Methodist values and encourages staff in their professional development. You have numerous opportunities at Methodist to demonstrate your unique skill set, work with a diverse team across the health system and feel supported in doing so.
