Congratulations to Susannah Black, BSN, RN, OCN, CDP, a nurse coordinator in the Methodist Hospital Oncology Unit, for being honored with The DAISY Award. She was nominated by Darcie Consbruck, MSN, RN, PCCN, service leader for the Progressive Care Unit and house supervisor. In her nomination, Consbruck wrote:

“There was a patient waiting for insurance authorization to get moved to hospice at Dunklau Gardens. The family was rightfully upset that this was going to take much longer than anticipated to wait on insurance. The family let Susannah know that this patient just wanted to be in Fremont closer to family to have one last family Christmas together with a tree and a turkey. Susannah got others notified to see if this process could be expedited. … Because Susannah was such an amazing advocate for this patient, the patient went to Dunklau on hospice that same day.”
