Across Nebraska, blood bank shelves are alarmingly bare.
Health officials say a dangerous drop in donations is putting lives on the line.
“It worries me that we could be put in a situation where we can’t take care of these patients the way we should,” said Dr. Sara Rutter, the medical director for Methodist's Blood Bank.
Hospitals rely on a steady blood supply every day, but right now, the demand is outpacing supply — forcing doctors to make difficult decisions.
