David Burd Named Next President and CEO of Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital

Published: March 3, 2021

David Burd, senior vice president of operations for Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, has been named president and CEO of the hospital effective July 1. He succeeds Steve Baumert, who announced in February that he was retiring on June 30 after more than 40 years in various roles at Jennie Edmundson.

“David hit the ground running from the moment he joined the Methodist family last year,” said Steve Goeser, president and CEO of Methodist Health System. “With his extensive experience in health care and organizational culture, we can’t wait to see how he further impacts Jennie Edmundson and the system as a whole.”

Burd came to Jennie Edmundson in May 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing over 20 years of experience in the health care industry. He previously was chief executive officer for Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Nebraska. He served as vice president of finance for the Nebraska Hospital Association for over 12 years. He also has experience as an accountant, patient accounts manager and systems coordinator for what is now Bryan Health in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has served as chief operating officer for All American Insurance in Lincoln and chief financial officer for Thayer County Health Services.

He earned his associate degree in accounting from the Lincoln School of Commerce, his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his master’s degree in health care administration from Bellevue University.

“I’m honored to be chosen to follow in the footsteps of an extraordinary leader like Steve Baumert,” Burd said. “He helped lay the foundation for the success Jennie Edmundson has experienced and its bright future ahead. I’m excited to lead a team known throughout the community for its outstanding care.”
