Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital was established in 1886 and became a Methodist Health System affiliate in 1994. Today it is a 230-bed regional health care center serving approximately 250,000 residents in western Iowa.
Jennie Edmundson employs a workforce of over 400 full-time and over 160 part-time employees, and it has an active medical staff of nearly 170 physicians. It boasts western Iowa’s only accredited cancer program.
The hospital offers a 24/7 Level III Emergency Department that treats over 20,000 patients per year. Jennie Edmundson also performs over 7,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries per year while surpassing over 500 births yearly.
It is the only hospital in this region that offers nationally accredited cancer and breast cancer programs while also featuring western Iowa’s only Advanced Wound Center. Jennie Edmundson has a 20-bed inpatient adult behavior health unit.
Jennie Edmundson is committed to being a leader in women’s services in western Iowa. In June of 2020, the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Medical Plaza opened on the hospital’s campus, offering a medical office building that is home to primary care and women’s health providers as well as imaging and urgent care services. In December of 2020, the women and newborns unit debuted at the hospital, offering an entire floor dedication to women’s services.
