Cancer Survivors Put On Show for Omaha Fashion WeekPublished: Feb. 22, 2023
Over a hundred cancer survivors took to the runway to continue kicking off Omaha Fashion Week Tuesday night.
It is part of Methodist Hospital's initiative to help them regain a sense of beauty they might have lost while undergoing treatment. The Tuesday showcase happened at the Omaha Design Center, where one little girl was ready to shine.
"It must have the boing because the boing is everything for a curl," said Gianna, as she got her hair done by a stylist at Xenon Academy in Omaha Tuesday afternoon.
Gianna is nine years old, but she does not hide her spunk.
"When I heard it was coming up, I was like I want the best outfit, I want to look good for it," she said.
Gianna has every reason to celebrate. At age 3, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It took two and a half years of treatment; now in remission, Gianna is savoring the moments.
Restoring that sense of beauty is why Methodist Hospital's Inner Beauty Salon has organized the showcase for 10 years now during Omaha Fashion Week.
