Dr. Cristian Valquier joins Methodist internal medicine team
Published: Sept. 15, 2025Cristian Valquier, MD, views himself as a consultant to each of his patients and their health.
“I'm a provider who doesn't want to be just dictating to patients or doing what I think is best,” he said. “I want to really try to work as a team to take the best care of them that I can.”
Dr. Valquier, an internal medicine provider at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Regency, is particularly interested in helping patients manage heart failure, cardiovascular disease, asthma and allergies. He’s also fluent in Spanish and has experience with immigrant medicine – helping new arrivals with health care and medical paperwork.
“I enjoy building relationships over time, solving problems and teaching,” he said. “Meeting people where they are and working together toward a shared goal of making them feel better are the most rewarding aspects of my job.”
Above all, he wants his patients to feel valued and heard, as illustrated by one of his favorite memories.
“Medicine can be full of tension, joy and drama,” he said. “But one of the most meaningful moments for me was someone telling me I was the first person they had met who had truly listened to them. Even though I didn’t have all the answers, I listened, and we tackled their problem together. That’s how I want my patients to feel.”
Outside of work, Dr. Valquier enjoys spending time with his wife and two French bulldogs, playing tennis and pickleball, and taking part in outdoor activities like hiking and camping.
