Dr. Elvira Rios Joins Family Medicine Staff at Methodist Physicians Clinic

Elvira Rios, MD, has over three decades of experience as a family medicine physician – and she’s loved every moment.

“I have lived my true passion by being able to practice medicine,” said Dr. Rios, who sees patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic. “Caring for people from birth to the end of life. Going along with their life journeys and their ups and downs. Being there to guide them, educate them and help them make decisions so they can take care of themselves, that’s an amazing thing.”

Dr. Rios, whose first language is Spanish, especially enjoys women’s health, helping patients manage diabetes and heart disease, performing minor procedures like skin biopsies and laceration repair, and exploring how genetic testing can help patients maximize preventive care.

She’s proud to be part of Methodist and its commitment to showing each patient The Meaning of Care.

“We have the same core values,” she said. “If you provide technology, resources and the highest standard of quality care, you protect communities and make them better. That’s what The Meaning of Care means.”

Dr. Rios is from Puerto Rico but has called Omaha home for over 30 years. Outside of work, she likes hiking, cycling, traveling and spending time with her two children and longtime friends.
