Dr. Grant Starkey joins Methodist Physicians Clinic's Internal Medicine team

Published: July 31, 2025

Grant Starkey, MD, credits his parents for influencing his career path. He developed a love for science because his father holds a doctorate in agronomy. Meanwhile, his understanding of caring stemmed from his mother’s work as a small-town veterinarian.

“I got to see just how much everybody appreciated what she did for them,” said Dr. Starkey, an internist with Methodist Physicians Clinic. “And it inspired me to want to go into a career field where I was able to serve others as well.”

He chose internal medicine because of the diversity of conditions he’s able to treat and his ability to see patients at the clinic and in the hospital.

“What I value most in my profession is the relationships I build with patients and their families,” he said. “As a primary care provider, I have the privilege of fostering long-term relationships. I get to know my patients as individuals, supporting them through their challenges and celebrating their successes along the way.”

Dr. Starkey believes his job is help patients make informed decisions about their health.

“My role is to help explain to them the best options and what might make the best sense for them and their family,” he said.

Outside of work, Dr. Starkey enjoys supporting Husker athletics and traveling with his wife. During the fall, you’ll likely find him attending a Nebraska football game or chasing pheasants and quails with their two hunting dogs.
