Dr. Lancaster Loves Broad Spectrum of Care with Family Practice
Published: April 20, 2016OMAHA – Picking her medical specialty was not an easy decision for Rebecca Lancaster, MD. She liked delivering babies, she liked caring for all ages of patients and providing solutions for those faced with a chronic condition. Because of its broad spectrum of care, family practice became her specialty of choice.
Dr. Lancaster is bringing her love of family medicine to the group of providers at Methodist Physicians Clinic HealthWest and is now accepting appointments.
“I couldn’t pick just one specialty or interest when that moment came during my medical training,” Dr. Lancaster said. “It was then I determined that family medicine was the right fit for me and right where I needed to be.”
For the past eight years, she has been honing her craft at Midwest Regional Health Services in Omaha. It was here that she developed a special interest in managing athlete concussions and is part of the Concussion Focus group in Omaha.
Throughout her early medical career she already has had many special moments with her patients.
“To deliver a baby and hand someone their newborn is pretty special,” Dr. Lancaster said. “What is equally as special is when I see a patient in the office and the last time they were with their spouse and this time they are not. We hold hands and grieve together and those little moments mean a lot as well. It’s why I keep doing what I do every day.”
Dr. Lancaster is a graduate of Creighton University with a bachelor of science in biology. She also earned her doctorate of medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine. Clarkson Family Medicine is where she did her residency training.
Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Lancaster is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians, Nebraska Medical Association and Metro Omaha Medical Society.
