Dr. Shannon Godsil joins the Methodist Physicians Clinic pediatrics team

Published: Dec. 31, 2025

Shannon Godsil, MD, knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.

“What really set things in stone for me was medical school,” she said. “Going on those pediatric rotations and realizing that I didn't only learn from the patients themselves, but I was learning so much from the other pediatricians. And it's who I wanted to be. It's who I wanted to work with. And now, as a parent, I've realized that having a team taking care of you is huge.”

As a pediatrician at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Gretna, Dr. Godsil enjoys caring for a variety of patients, but she’s always been drawn to newborn care and supporting new parents.

“The reality is that sometimes you're just surviving. And I want families to enjoy it. So, my whole job, especially in that period, is to make sure that they're enjoying this, they're learning and that we are going along this journey through every stage of parenthood.”

Dr. Godsil wants her patients and families to know that she desires to build a relationship centered on mutual trust. She also believes that parents know their children best.

“I've just been very thankful that families have learned that I want them to be in the driver's seat, and I just get to be in the passenger side, helping them along the whole process.”

When she’s not caring for patients and their families, Dr. Godsil loves spending time outside with her husband and their son. As a family, they enjoy fishing, hiking and simply playing outdoors. She also enjoys owning a variety of Nike sneakers.
