Dr. Suzanne Shipman joins Methodist Physicians Clinic's lineup of women's health experts

Suzanne Shipman, MD, knew that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families after witnessing one of her own family members battle cancer.

Dr. Shipman, who see patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic Women’s Center, enjoys walking with patients through rewarding and challenging circumstances to help them fully understand their health condition and find a treatment plan that meets their personal preferences.

“I’ve had many moments in my career when a patient has come back to me and said that I really helped them through a difficult situation,” she said. “Either I made it easier for them or I helped them through it. And that just reminds me of why I do this.”

Dr. Shipman enjoys following women through pregnancy and meeting their gynecological care needs throughout the course of their lives.

“One of my favorite things about practice in OB/GYN is just that whole spectrum of care, starting with a new OB visit, transitioning into GYN care and following someone through their lifetime,” she said.

When meeting patients for the first time, Dr. Shipman likes to ask them about their family and interests before learning about their medical history because she believes it’s important for her to know the whole person.

She also enjoys making a lasting impact during special moments.

“What I really love about obstetrics is seeing the whole patient. Starting out with a woman for their new OB visit, seeing them for their whole pregnancy and doing their delivery is so meaningful, both for myself and for the patient.”
