Practicing medicine has always been a natural fit for Katie Sagrero, DO.

Her love of science and strong sense of community service drew her to a career as a family medicine physician, and the rewarding moments she has with patients continue to inspire her.

“Whether it's a milestone like having a baby or being pregnant, or it’s something like getting a new diagnosis or experiencing the loss of a family member – it’s being able to be there for that person,” she said. “In family medicine, we’re there for people’s most important moments.”

Dr. Sagrero, who is now caring for patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Hawthorne Court, enjoys the variety of patients and conditions she sees. She is fluent in Spanish and is passionate about caring for people from different cultures. She has experience with OB/GYN and psychiatric care, and she’s particularly invested in helping patients navigate their journeys with menopause, weight management and chronic conditions.

“I really like the idea that the physician is partnering with the patient in their health care decisions and that the patient is an integral part of the health care team,” she said. “I always look forward to bringing new discoveries and treatment options to my patients.”

She added: “Getting to see patients through their ups and downs is very meaningful. For instance, when they see their blood pressure or diabetes controlled for the first time in years, that's something to remember.”

Outside of work, the Omaha native enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Her hobbies include reading, paddleboarding, bike riding and Pilates.
