Jacob Hedlund joins Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program staff

Published: Sept. 6, 2024

As a counselor with the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program, Jacob Hedlund, PLMHP, PCMSW, enjoys making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Hedlund worked for a suicide prevention hotline for five years, and he’s particularly interested in suicide prevention, self-harm prevention and crisis intervention. He especially enjoys working with children, teens and young adults.

Regardless of a client’s age, Hedlund believes that a relationship built on trust is key to achieving a positive outcome.

“I like to talk to people, and my favorite moments are when I can help someone de-escalate a situation while teaching them tools and techniques to approach these emotions and situations moving forward,” he said.

Outside of work, Hedlund is a Creighton basketball and Nebraska football fan. He also enjoys studying history, hiking and playing disc golf, basketball, card games, board games and video games.
