Jennie Edmundson's Miles Thomas honored with The DAISY Award a second time

Published: May 22, 2026

Congratulations to Miles Thomas, RN, a nurse on the Critical Care Unit at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, for being honored with The DAISY Award. The Nebraska Methodist College graduate was nominated by a patient’s mother, who wrote:

“My 41-year-old daughter was taken to the ICU after a kidney stone procedure on a ventilator. Our whole family was in shock. Her two daughters were with me by her side for 16 long days. Miles was always so professional and helpful. My daughter ran fevers for days and had what seemed to be tons of IVs. Large groups of doctors came every day. Miles always made sure she was comfortable – moving her position every couple of hours and explaining what was going on to the family. He talked to her like she was awake, telling her everything they were doing. If he took her temperature or moved her or poked her, he would always tell her first before he touched her. He made us feel like everything would be all right. On the 11th of February, she was taken off the vent, and she moved off ICU on the 13th. Three days later, she was released and moved back home. She is on the road to recovery, and we couldn’t be more pleased. All of the ICU nurses were so great. What a wonderful staff! Miles was just a step ahead of the rest of them. We are so thankful for him. On a scale of 1-10, we give him 100.”

This is the second time Thomas has been honored with The DAISY Award. Read about his 2025 award here.
