Methodist Cardiology Team Welcomes Dr. William Nester

It was a moment William Nester, MD, will never forget. The cardiologist was running errands when a former patient approached him.

“He thanked me for saving his life,” said Dr. Nester, who has joined the staff at Methodist Physicians Clinic. “He had been very sick, and seeing him with his family, living his life how he wanted to, made all the many long days and nights worthwhile. It was a truly special moment.”

Dr. Nester most enjoys helping people who have had heart attacks – he calls it “a distinct honor” – but he cares for patients with a range of cardiology issues. Regardless of why he’s seeing a patient, he wants them to know that he’s committed to providing highly skilled, enthusiastic care. That’s The Meaning of Care, he said.

“To me, it’s a long-term relationship,” he said. “The Meaning of Care is working together as a team to make a plan to get you healthier and provide the best, most compassionate care for you and your family.”

The results are special for patients and Dr. Nester alike.

“The really fun part about being a cardiologist is I get to help my community,” he said. “I get to help the people that live in my community by taking care of them when they’re really sick, helping them get better and then seeing them in follow-ups so that they can go back to living their lives.”

Dr. Nester and his wife both come from large families, and they’re excited to have started their own. When he’s not working, Dr. Nester can be found outside or spending time with his family. He walks his Siberian husky every morning, and he enjoys sailing, snow skiing, water skiing and hiking.
