Methodist Fremont Health announces reopening of Radiation Oncology Clinic, completion of $3.5 million renovation project
Published: April 7, 2025
Methodist Fremont Health hosted a ribbon cutting and reopening ceremony for the newly renovated and upgraded Radiation Oncology Clinic – located inside the Methodist Fremont Health Cancer Center (450 E. 23rd St.) – on Friday, April 11, at 9 a.m.
$2 million of the $3.5 million project – which includes a new, state-of-the-art radiotherapy system – was provided by the Fremont Health Foundation and its generous donors following a two-year fundraising campaign.
“This milestone reflects our continued commitment to providing advanced, comprehensive cancer care close to home,” said Shawn Shanahan Brown, executive director for Fremont Health Foundation. “Our ‘why’ behind this project focuses on those in our community already facing unthinkable challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis – that they might at least be spared the burden of traveling elsewhere when it comes to seeking the best outcomes possible with the most advanced treatment options.”
The ribbon cutting and reopening ceremony marked the end of the clinic’s six-month pause on radiation treatments, which allowed for renovation and the installation of the new linear accelerator.
“We are beyond proud of this enhanced space equipped with best-in-class technology,” said Alex Siebels, BSRT (R) (T), manager of radiation oncology at Methodist Fremont Health. “Although our patients have long had access to radiation services at this clinic, we are thrilled to continue caring for them with the technological advancements in our new Varian TrueBeam accelerator, designed to deliver safer, more precise radiation to those who need it most.”
Methodist Fremont Health is home to an American College of Surgeons Accredited Community Cancer Program.
