Methodist Fremont Health Lobby Makeover Offers Caring Space for Patients, Guests

Published: Dec. 12, 2022

Methodist Fremont Health provides incredible care to thousands of patients and their families. The kindness and compassion that occurs throughout the hospital is unmatched. What was missing was a lobby that conveys The Meaning of Care

The Fremont Health Foundation recently made that possible with a $1.2 million renovation of the hospital lobby and surrounding areas. While various areas of the hospital had been updated in recent years, the lobby, surgery waiting area and medical staff lounge were among the last locations to receive some TLC.

“The Foundation was very excited to be part of this project,” said Shawn Shanahan, executive director of development and community health for Methodist Fremont Health and the Fremont Health Foundation. “Those coming to us for care deserve a space that is welcoming and offers privacy for registration and access to our patient financial counselors. The makeover does that and so much more.”

The lobby renovation includes a new information desk that serves as the first stop for all hospital visitors. Private registration stations are a new feature, along with the financial counselor location. Updated lighting and flooring in the entry halls and atrium further enhance the look of the area.

Family members whose loved ones are undergoing surgery will now be greeted by a more welcoming space, as well. The surgery waiting area’s more modern features and comfortable waiting areas offer enhanced technology. A new hospitality space also adds to the welcoming atmosphere families will find.

The final area impacted by the recent renovations was the medical staff lounge, resulting in a more functional space with private work spaces, furniture that encourages rest and relaxation, and locker spaces for storage of personal items.

“This project has so greatly improved our spaces,” Shanahan said. “Our lobby is the first thing our visitors see, and the renovation speaks volumes not only to our guests but also our employees. It provides a sense of pride for them and a beautiful space to spend their day.”
