Congratulations to Sarah Knuppel, a registered nurse in the Medical-Surgical Unit at Methodist Fremont Health, for being honored with The DAISY Award! She was nominated by a patient's grandchild, who wrote:

“She was kind, compassionate and her heart was huge. I knew my grandmother was in the best hands. Sarah told me she had been an ICU nurse at the same hospital for 24 years. Her honesty was refreshing, and it allowed us to get family in the room to say our goodbyes. I am truly forever grateful for Sarah and the care she gave my grandmother and my family. I remember on that Sunday night, way after the time she was supposed to get off, she stayed. She stayed and let me know my grandmother’s kidneys were failing and that her vent was not responding anymore. She was gracious and compassionate explaining everything to me. I then explained it to my mother so she could make the best decisions. Before Sarah left, she came up to me and gave me the tightest hug. I will forever remember Sarah. I will remember her level of nursing. She is one of the most amazing nurses I have ever seen in action.”
