Methodist Health System hospitals take part in Teal Band Project, addressing maternal morbidity and mortality
Published: July 10, 2025
Methodist Women’s Hospital, Methodist Fremont Health and Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital are proud to participate in the Nebraska Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative’s (NPQIC) Teal Band Project – part of its Postpartum Alert Initiative – to help address and raise awareness about the troubling rates of maternal morbidity and mortality.
All postpartum patients at our hospitals will receive a teal wrist band with a postcard and magnet highlighting new postpartum warning signs. The information – available in English, Spanish, Karen and Arabic – is aimed at helping moms and their loved ones identify when help/emergent care may be needed.
Postpartum patients are encouraged to wear the teal wristband for at least six weeks following delivery to remind themselves that they are at an increased risk for complications, and to alert their loved ones and care teams that prompt action may be needed if complications do develop.
Methodist Health System is proud to be #PostpartumAlert while ensuring all moms receive the care they deserve during the vulnerable “fourth trimester.”
