Methodist Hospital cardiology reaches milestone with Medtronic Symplicity™ system

Congratulations to interventional cardiologist William Nester, MD, and the entire team at Methodist Hospital for its latest milestone in cardiac care.

From Dr. Nester: "Today, we successfully performed the hospital’s first renal denervation procedures using the Medtronic Symplicity™ system.

“This minimally invasive catheter-based procedure represents an important new option for patients with uncontrolled hypertension despite optimal medical therapy. By targeting the sympathetic nerves surrounding the renal arteries, renal denervation offers the potential for sustained blood pressure reduction with a one-time intervention.

“I’m proud to have led these inaugural cases alongside our outstanding cath lab team, our cardiology team and our nephrology partners.  

“This is a true team effort and another step forward in advancing cardiovascular care in our region.

“Looking ahead, we’re excited to offer this innovative therapy to more patients who need additional solutions beyond medications alone."
