Methodist team completes Omaha’s 1st robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure
Published: Aug. 12, 2025
Congratulations to cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. HelenMari Merritt and her team for successfully performing Methodist’s and Omaha’s first robotic-assisted coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedure. The procedure was completed on Aug. 6 at Methodist Hospital.
This minimally invasive technique avoids open-chest surgery – and much of the pain and recovery time typically associated with it – to bypass blocked or narrowed coronary arteries and restore blood flow to the heart using healthy blood vessels from elsewhere in the body.
