Methodist welcomes nephrologist Dr. Sunil Jagadesh
Published: Oct. 6, 2025Influenced by his father, who practiced alternative medicine, Sunil Jagadesh, MD, knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in medicine.
“It was his dream,” Dr. Jagadesh said. “The key things I learned from him were hard work and dedication. He lived his life helping other people. Those are things I try to apply on a day-to-day basis.”
As a nephrologist at Methodist Physicians Clinic – Nephrology, he’s particularly interested in managing chronic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis – inflammation and damage to kidney’s tiny filters – in the outpatient setting, as well as acute kidney injury and electrolyte disorders in hospital patients.
“I really like helping patients in the hospital setting because for a lot of them, that’s probably one of their worst times,” he said. “I really enjoy taking care of patients when they're the sickest. It gives me immense satisfaction to see them get better. When they recuperate and I see them in clinic, that really inspires me.”
Equally rewarding are the relationships he forms with patients along the way.
“You’re taking care of patients with chronic conditions, and they live with them for long periods of time. You form real relationships with your patients that span over the years. Helping them navigate challenges with their conditions and enjoy life to the best of their ability – that really gives me a lot of satisfaction.”
Outside of work, Dr. Jagadesh enjoys watching cricket and reading books, particularly with his children.
