Nonpareil: Zlomke Strives for Compassion, Care at Jennie Edmundson

Published: June 10, 2015

Dr. Michael Zlomke learned to not only care for his patients but also care about them when he was young, watching his father, a family physician in a small town in Nebraska, treat patients with kindness and respect.

He strives to live up to that example today as a general surgeon at the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center, where he combines surgical skills with a genuine compassion for the people he treats.

I had so many friends who knew Dr. Zlomke or who had him as their surgeon, and they all love him,” said Linda Sieck of Walnut, a breast cancer patient who underwent a lumpectomy at Jennie. “He put me at ease from the moment we met. I sensed he really cares deeply about his work and his patients.”

Dr. Zlomke was profiled in the second in a series of features highlighting the Methodist Jennie Edmundson capital campaign in the Daily Nonpareil.
