Omaha World-Herald: Doctors Appeal For South Sudan Clinic Dollars

Published: Oct. 12, 2015

A doctor from South Sudan who visited Omaha for two months appealed for help to expand a clinic he runs in his country.

Jackson Lodiong Dumo, who returned Friday to the clinic he runs in Kajo Keji, emphasized the need to raise $500,000 to expand the facility, the only one in a region of roughly 500,000 people.

He also encouraged nursing students to volunteer for a March trip to South Sudan, and shadowed Methodist Health System doctors.

Dr. Joseph Dumba and Dr. Jackson Dumo shared the challenges faced by the clinic in South Sudan with students and faculty at Nebraska Methodist College and sat down with World-Herald Reporter Eric Smith.
