Download the free PulsePoint app. It could help save a life
Published: Feb. 23, 2026
When someone experiences a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), every minute matters.
Methodist Hospital is proud to be part of the new PulsePoint community partnership that aims to make life-saving assistance more accessible than ever – and we need your help!
The community-wide initiative is supported by 15 organizations, including area fire, health care organizations and businesses. Across North America, PulsePoint is in use in over 4,400 communities and has a network of over 3 million subscribers.
How it works
PulsePoint Respond (red): When someone is experiencing an out-of-hospital SCA, 911 dispatchers use the Pulse Point Respond app to alert nearby CPR-trained subscribers who have indicated that they are willing to respond in emergency situations. This means that CPR-trained civilians can bridge the gap in the critical time before advanced medical care arrives.
PulsePoint AED (yellow): The Pulse Point AED app allows users to report and update AED locations throughout the community so that individuals and departments responding to emergencies can quickly and easily locate AEDs.
How you can help
The biggest need? CPR-trained responders are urged to download the PulsePoint Respond app and register!
Not CPR-certified? You can still download the app and keep tabs on emergencies in your area and assist a certified person by finding an AED, calling 911 or directing responders to the exact emergency locations. The app also helps guide users through hands-only CPR and how to use an AED.
Note: Currently, the PulsePoint initiative is focused on Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties. People in other communities are encouraged to download the apps, especially if they live in Iowa but work in Nebraska.
The impact we can make
According to the American Heart Association, more than 436,000 people die each year from cardiac arrests in America. And more than 350,000 sudden cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year.
But when CPR is performed immediately, the chance of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest can triple.
Let’s work together to improve outcomes in our area! Download PulsePoint Respond and register today to be a lifesaver.
