Dr. Elizabeth Kastrick joins Methodist OB/GYN team

Published: Sept. 3, 2024

Elizabeth Kastrick, MD, says she can’t think of a more rewarding job than being an OB/GYN.

“What I love about my job is that you’re there with the patient,” she said. “Whether it’s the good, the bad, the ugly, the sad – it doesn’t matter. You’re going to help that patient through it all. They’re going to remember you, and you remember your patients. It’s a bond that’s unlike anything else.”

She was inspired early on by her father, also an OB/GYN, and several family members who were nurses.

“But I knew for certain I was going into medicine when my grandpa was diagnosed and treated for head and neck cancer,” she said. “I realized how doctors truly can change the lives of their patients, and I witnessed how they can make a scary prognosis something a patient can overcome by being present and supportive.”

Dr. Kastrick cares for patients at the Methodist Physicians Clinic Women's Center, helping them optimize their health through every chapter of their lives. In addition to delivering babies, she’s able to perform a range of gynecologic surgeries and is certified in the use of robotic surgical techniques.

“It’s the best of both worlds for me, being able to care for patients in the clinic and in the operating room,” she said. “I truly care about my patients and feel lucky that I get to be a part of their health and lives.”

Outside of work, Dr. Kastrick is passionate about helping animals.

“I’ve lost count of the number of cats and dogs I’ve fostered and found new homes for,” she said.

She also enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and completing projects around the house.
