Nurse Practitioner, Bariatric Surgery Program Coordinator

Tell us more about yourself and your background.

I’ve been working at Methodist since 2015 in the bariatric surgery department. I’m a nurse practitioner and program coordinator. My role involves helping prepare bariatric patients for surgery and assisting them after surgery with lifestyle and dietary modifications. Nutrition and healthy lifestyle is a passion of mine. I’m also board certified in holistic nutrition and as a nutritional therapist practitioner.

I’ve been married since 2016 and have a 10-month old daughter. Our cat, Buddy, rounds out our family.

Why Methodist? What attracted you to the organization?

I came to Methodist because of the position in bariatric surgery. I've always wanted to help people. This was a great opportunity to help patients make lifelong changes to their lifestyle and dietary choices. The program is not only for weight loss but also for health and remission/resolution of their medical conditions.

What is it about Methodist that keeps you coming back?

I’ve been with Methodist as a nurse practitioner since 2015 and have stayed because of the amazing people I work with. I also feel a strong sense of ownership over our bariatric program. I have seen our patients make amazing long-term changes. That's the highlight of my work.

I’ve been fortunate to work with a great group of people who not only provide great care but also all support each other. The experience I’ve gained from working with this population has been invaluable.
