The Methodist Head and Neck Cancer Clinic offers a number of unique clinical trials and is home to the Midwest’s largest group of fellowship-trained surgical oncologists. Our providers have additional specialized training and use a full range of advanced treatment options including the latest tissue-sparing and reconstructive techniques, surgical intervention, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. At Methodist, each patient’s case will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary team of experts to give you the best chance at recovery.
Treatment
Our head and neck surgical oncologists are specially trained to treat malignant and benign tumors involving the:
- Face
- Gingiva (gums) and facial bone tumors
- Larynx (voice box)
- Oral cavity (lips, mouth, tongue)
- Parathyroid gland
- Pharynx (throat)
- Salivary glands
- Sinuses and nasal cavity
- Thyroid
Our team of highly skilled providers also has extensive experience in treating a number of endocrine disorders. In an effort to enhance patient experience and recovery, they use pain management techniques to reduce the use of opioids, as well as minimally invasive treatment options, including:
- Sialendoscopy
This safe and effective technique uses narrow endoscopes to diagnose and treat obstructions and conditions of the salivary glands. - Transoral robotic surgery (TORS)
This robotic surgery technique is used to remove tumors while eliminating scarring. - Skull base surgery
Using a personalized approach to skull base tumors, including pituitary masses, we rely on a multidisciplinary team of experts to determine whether minimally invasive or open surgery is the best course of treatment.
