Brock Thornburg, LIMHP, CMSW, describes himself as an ally and advocate for his clients.
“Building trust and rapport is important,” said Thornburg, a counselor with the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program. “I strive to show that I’m consistent and someone they can count on.”
Thornburg enjoys working with adults and middle schoolers, and he has training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help clients work through trauma.
Whether Thornburg is helping a current client or catching up with someone years down the road, his favorite part of the job is seeing how he’s impacted others.
“I love the sense of satisfaction I get in helping someone, especially when they’re able to see things in a different way,” he said.
Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
