Why Methodist?
Our Specialized Dementia and Memory Support Program is designed to support those impacted by dementia through patient- and caregiver-specific resources and strategies to better understand and address disease progression. Through early intervention, support and education, we’re able to help maximize the quality of life for our patients and their families.
With no set number of appointments and no requirements to “complete” the program, we believe in allowing patients and caregivers to truly drive their experience with us as we work to help them maintain a sense of control amid a life-changing diagnosis.
A Multi-Disciplinary Approach
The Methodist Hospital Specialized Dementia and Memory Support Program combines expertise from specially trained physical, speech and occupational therapists, who work to assess and treat multiple aspects of dementia simultaneously and preserve patient confidence, dignity and independence.
Our team completes a comprehensive assessment of each patient to evaluate and stage the severity of dementia in an effort to help identify areas of focus and opportunity for a unique care plan. We also work with other support services and specialists, including your primary care physician, to ensure a well-rounded care plan.
The impact of a dementia diagnosis often extends past the patient. Our team is passionate about educating and supporting caregivers, too. We’re here to help them understand and manage changes, minimize stress and frustration, and provide a supportive environment for their loved ones.
