Find out if you meet the requirements for a lung cancer screening.

Detecting lung cancer in its earliest stages through screenings can dramatically improve outcomes because symptoms often don’t appear until the cancer is in an advanced stage.

You’re eligible for lung cancer screening if you meet all of the following:

  • You are between the ages of 50 and 80
  • You currently smoke or quit smoking within the past 15 years
  • You have smoked one pack of cigarettes per day for 20 years or 2 packs per day for 10 years
  • You are not experiencing symptoms related to lung disease

If you meet the above criteria, talk to your provider or call the Methodist Fremont Health Lung and Thoracic Oncology Clinic at (402) 727-3580 to learn more.

Low dose lung CT screening is typically covered by Medicare and most private insurance as a preventive screening to eligible patients, with no out of pocket costs. However, we encourage patients to check with their insurance provider.

If you’re currently experiencing symptoms such as a persistent cough, coughing up blood, unexplained weight loss or occasional shortness of breath, reach out to your provider because you may need diagnostic testing rather than screening.
