Why Methodist?
At Methodist, our team of highly skilled and compassionate surgeons take a personalized approach to enhancing your overall appearance. Whether you’re trying to achieve more contoured legs, improve their shape, remove excess skin or address stubborn fat to look and feel more like you, our expert staff will guide you through the process with your safety and satisfaction in mind.
What a Thigh Lift Entails
A thigh lift or – or thighplasty – is the surgical removal of extra skin from the thighs to achieve smoother, more toned legs. There are several variations of a thigh lift that involve one or multiple incisions and skin tightening measures while targeting specific areas of the thighs.
Methodist offers the following thigh lifts:
- Mini – This more modest approach addresses loose skin in the upper inner thigh with a small incision in the groin area.
- Medial (Inner) – With the goal of tightening the entire inner thigh area, a medial thigh lift begins with an incision in the groin area that extends to the back of the thigh, or a vertical incision that extends from the groin to the knee.
- Bilateral (Outer) – A bilateral thigh lift starts with an incision along the top of the thigh that may extend around the hip to address fat and excess skin in the front and outer thigh.
- Spiral – This more extensive, 360-degree approach addresses all areas of the thigh (front, back, inner and outer) with one or more incisions. Spiral thigh lifts may involve some light reconstruction.
At Methodist, your thigh lift begins with a thorough and detailed consultation with one of our experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeons in a private, comfortable environment. Your consult will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Your individual goals and options
- The surgical process
- Recovery
- Surgical risks
- Cost and maintenance
Ideal candidates for a thigh lift include those who are:
- At their ideal body weight
- In good overall physical and mental health
- Nonsmokers
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding and done having children
- Not undergoing cancer treatment
- Over the age of 18 (unless otherwise medically necessary)
What a Thigh Lift Can Do
- Improve self-esteem
- Eliminate excess skin and fat from the inner, outer, front and/or back of thigh area
- Improve tone and definition of the legs
A thigh lift is a contouring procedure. Although it can improve the appearance of dimpling in some cases, it won’t permanently remove cellulite and is often considered for loose and sagging skin due to significant weight loss and/or aging.
Patients can expect to see the full results of their thigh lift within six months of their procedure.
