Why Methodist?
At Methodist, our team of highly skilled and compassionate surgeons take a personalized approach to enhancing your appearance. Whether you’re trying to improve tone, remove excess skin or address stubborn fat to look and feel more like you, our expert staff will guide you through the process with your safety and satisfaction in mind.
What an Arm Lift Entails
An arm lift – or brachioplasty – is the surgical reshaping of the bottom portion of the upper arm (the flabby skin that extends from the arm pit to the elbow), sometimes referred to as “bat wings.” An arm lift involves incisions to remove extra skin and fat followed by sutures to tighten the remaining skin and tissue. It may also involve liposuction to further tone and contour the arms.
At Methodist, your arm lift begins with a thorough and detailed consultation with one of our experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeons in a private, comfortable environment. Your consult will cover a variety of topics, including:
- Your individual goals and options
- The surgical process
- Recovery
- Surgical risks
- Cost and maintenance
Ideal candidates for breast augmentation include those who are:
- At or near their ideal weight, or planning to maintain their current weight
- In good overall physical and mental health
- Nonsmokers
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Not undergoing cancer treatment
- Over the age of 18 (unless otherwise medically necessary)
Arm lift results can last for several years depending on genetic and lifestyle factors.
What an Arm Lift Can Do
- Improve self-esteem
- Eliminate hanging skin due to weight loss, aging or genetic factors
- Improve tone and definition of the arms
An arm lift is a body contouring – not a weight loss – procedure. Your surgeon will help you determine what type of arm lift best suits your individual goals.
