Why Methodist?

At Methodist, our team of highly skilled and compassionate surgeons take a personalized approach to enhancing your overall breast appearance. Whether you’re trying to improve symmetry, reclaim lost volume or achieve the shape and size that look and feel most like you, our expert staff will guide you through the process with your safety and satisfaction in mind.

What a Breast Augmentation Entails

A breast augmentation – or augmentation mammoplasty – is the surgical implantation of saline or silicone gel devices into the breasts to enhance their shape, size or volume. Breast augmentations may also involve the transfer of fat from one part of the body – typically the abdomen, hips, thighs or buttocks – to the breast area.

At Methodist, your augmentation begins with a thorough and detailed consultation with one of our experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeons in a private, comfortable environment. Your consult will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Your individual goals and options
  • The surgical process
  • Recovery
  • Surgical risks
  • Cost and maintenance

Ideal candidates for breast augmentation include those who are:

  • In good overall physical and mental health
  • Nonsmokers
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Not undergoing cancer treatment
  • Over the age of 18 (unless otherwise medically necessary)

The lifespan of implants can vary depending on a patient’s lifestyle and daily habits. Although some results may last a lifetime, most patients should expect a second surgery for revision or replacement at some point in their life.

What a Breast Augmentation Can Do

  • Improve self-esteem
  • Improve balance and symmetry
  • Increase size, volume and projection, especially after a weight loss or breastfeeding journey
  • Restore what is lost following a mastectomy or injury

Breast augmentation does not correct severely drooping breasts. In some cases, a breast lift may also be required. Your surgeon will help you determine whether an augmentation with lift is necessary.
